[glow=green,2,300]Saraphina walked through the grass laden fields, the soft hissing sound pleasing to her ears. This was where she had been blown, guided, by the spirits of her ancestors. And she loved it. It was just like the place she grew up in, though lacking the old worn down barn and broken carriages that her mother told her, her grandmother and father pulled. Humans had been long gone since the birth of Saraphina, but the artifacts they left behind were fasinating. Saraphina had often gazed at the houses and fences, so her parents said they were called, that flooded the dirt paths. Saraphina looked up at the seemingly endless sky that grew above her. She thought of the white clouds, how they had a mind of their own, moving and shifting as often as they wanted when they wanted. Saraphina wished she could be like that. Heck, she didn't even have the right to love who she wished, a Stallion could come up and nip her an the rump and then where would she be? In a situation facing rearing a foal, and death. More importantly, what was the right choice? But, that didn't matter, she did as was expected of her, and as she was told, and thanked the heavens each day for letting come so far in life, some Mares didn't even make it this far. Her eyes now scanned the ground, someone had already been here, which meant, that this land was claimed. Good, she didn't want to have to claim a land, and she didn't want to be known as a loner either. Peacefully, she trotted her feathered hooves into the vast forest, hoping to meet the horse that had claimed this green, abounding land.[/glow]

The valley in which upon Vex sat seemed endless, as the mare dozed in and out of her day dreams. She could not have every believed that she would be the leader of such a thriving land. Sighing, Vex suddenly faded away. Rolling upon her back, she began to stew up the dirt and grass from the ground. Dust became airborne, landing and tightly gripping to her pelt, she could not help but relax in the cool tempurature of the sand.
Perking her ears forward, Vex lifted her head upwards. The scent of another fluttered to her nostrils, it was as surreal as her daydreams. Staring into the distance, Vex quickly jumped to her feet. Silence engulfed her as she blankly watched the land set before her. Taking several small steps backwards, Vex suddenly rose to her hind legs. Thrashing her front legs in the air to help her keep balance.
Raising her mouth slightly, Vex released a loud neigh. Her teeth bearing as she pinned her ears back. Not wanting to sound too fierce, but she wanted to say that she was not going to be easily toyed with. Falling back towards the earth, Vex listened as her call echoed into the distance. Hoping the newcomer could hear it from such a far distance.

SAraphina was startled outof her trot by the almost challenging, neigh of a Mare. Was that the other horse the had senced earlyer? It sounded like a firm neigh, stateing that they had claimed this land. It was just like the neigh her mother gave whenever a loner wandered into their feild. Of course there were only a few horses there, because he father didnt want to have to compete for the love of Saraphina's mother. Slowly, and carefully, Saraphina moved forward. Saraphina raised herself onto her hind legs, kicking her front ones to help her stay up, she didnt have much practice with this stance, because she had only stood like this once or twice. She let out a neigh, stating that she came in peace, and only wanted to find a home here.

Waiting patiently, Vex looked back towards her foliage home. Only several feet away stood the shelter in which she had just taken a nap in, her leafy bed still ruffled from her awakening. Perching her ears upwards once again, she listened as the other equine neighed in reply to her firm greetings. It's call sent enough data to tell Vex that this was a mare, tall, and that she only wanted to come in piece. Snorting loudly through her nostrils, she denied the newcomer's claim of peace. She had claimed such a thriving land, she knew that another would soon be here to fight her for it.
Again, a large inferno ignited within her heart, she knew that she also must defend this land with her life. She would not easily be defeated. Shaking her head vigorously, Vex raised her mouth to the skies again. Neighing loudly, Vex told the newcomer to approach her for approval for entrance into her territory. Any member of her herd MUST agree to meet her before membership into her newly forming family. The re-occuring memories of her family finally ceisted. This was a new beginning, and her past will not haunt her forever, Vex will not allow it.

Saraphina huffed. So, this wasnt the normal herd leader. They actully wanted to see her before they allowed her into the heard. She continued her trot forward, looking aorund every nook and crannie for the Mare that had claimed this land. Land. So much land. Like a never-ending maze. She let out a small whinny, asking where the Mare was. She couldnt find her. Her tail swatted around her hindquarters, flicking away the pesky gnats that always roamed the feilds. And her ears reached out into the vast feild and forest, hoping to hear the sound of movement. She heard the rusle of hooves against the earth. She galoped towards them, suddenly eager to meet the horse. She same open her, and her eyes twinkled with friendly greeting.

Watching as the mare approaching, Vex held herself higher upon her sturdy limbs. Her eyes ablaze with a powerful gaze, her optics glued to the newcomer. Clearing her throat, she spoke towards the mare, "Welcome to my land. I am you Lead mare, Vex." A twisted smile rung upon her lips, as she took several slow steps towards the female. "Saraphina, what a beautiful name." Her words dripped deviously from her lips, as she shook her head vigorously. Her mane gently flipping around, her eyebrows lifted as she examined the horse.
She attentively distinquished her features, her feathered hooves, her multi-colored pelt. Her fur was thick, and luxurious. She was a Gypsy Vanner. Pacing around the female, Vex drew a 3 dimensional of the female. A sudden thought occured in her head that she might want to join her herd. Walking around, Vex quickled encircled the mare. Approaching her face, Vex asked. "What might you be doing, wandering around my terra?"

[glow=green,2,300]Saraphina dipped her head low in greeting, to the lead Mare. She was an awefully beautiful chestnut brown, and her eyes, blue as the sjy itself. " Yes. My name is Saraphina. And yet I fail to know yours." Her voice followed her eyes, as she watched the other mare circling around her. Was she being judged? She didnt like being judged. For, they, being the judger, knew knew the intire inside of the matter, just the outside, and just the mental thinkings, that be the judgers thinkings. " My only wish is to be part of your herd. For I have found peace here and hope to stay. " Saraphina adressed the last question, raising her head back to normal level.[/glow]

oOc:: Vex isn't Chestnut brown, she is a black. With a lighter black luster.
Looking to the the mare, Vex took several safe steps backwards, raising her head she spoke. "....I am Vex." She sharply declared, gracefully flipping her hair from her face. Pounding her hooves softly amongst the ground, she watched her hoof as if her answer was written upon the fertiziled soil.
"Fine." She exclaimed, "I will allow you to join my newly forming herd. However," Vex paused, Looking deep into Sara's eyes. "I do not want any funny-buisness." Taking one last full look at Sara, Vex turned on her hooves and began to walk steadily towards the forest. Her once rhythmetic hoof beats now soundless, as the soft ground absorbed her impact. Continuing on, she expected the newcomer to follow. Considering the sun beat down mercilessly upon the very valley in which they stood.

Saraphina winced as Vex glared, it seemed, at her. She wasn't one to take to kindly to being glared at. in fact, it scared her almost, the thought of glaring. Its like you are tring to read something evil thats not there, or placing a not so nice label on someone before they could even get a word out. But, such was life, and such were the labels that were tacked on you throughout life, and such it would be, forever. Or at least, until the point where everyone realized they were going to be different from one another, and no one would be able to match them perfectly. Forever seemed like a much more likely outcome. " I do not intend to create fully business. Nor do I intend to steal your land. I just want a place to live. It's time I settled down. " Her neigh was strong and just, she wanted to make a point, to earn the trust of this mare. For, if no one trusts you, its just as bad as being outside of a pack. For. without trust, no one will belive in you, as a friend, as a neighbor, as anything. You were mentaly shunned, and placed in a spot, where no one ever wanted to be.

Glancing towards Saraphina, Vex did not reply to her little speech, but snorted. "I do not hand the honor of my trust to random horses. I am prudent, carefully watching my steps, unlike the foolish..." Turning a 90 degree angle, the side of her body faced the mare, her head turned to face her. To reward her with the same glare she had previously given to her what had seemed days ago, but was a mere minutes. "The nieve who trust anyone and anything that crosses their pathes, are the ones who suffer from the flames of deception.
'The persons they once trusted are the very souls who lead that foolish horse to it's own death." She stated, pounding her hoof against the grass and earth. "Are you not pleased with the trust I have already handed to you? I trust you enough that I am able to turn my back to you, and I will not be harmed. I trust you enough, that when I am drinking from a fountian and my guard is down, that you will not allow a predator to attack me without warning." Vex turned around again. Walking directly towards the forest.
"Now come, we must reach the forest so I am able to show you the layout of the land. So you, like I, can become able to reconize the marking of the earth, if perhaps an emergency stricks." Her eyes glistened beneath the sun, her sky blue optics looking back to Saraphina one more time, before looking forward. And continuing onwards, her pace slow, though even she was not tired physically, she was tired within her mind.

Saraphina snorted, annoyed at this mare, this so called Vex. Just because she wanted a friend ship with Vex didnt mean she had to yell at her, the prance into a lecture about trust. That wasnt a good mark in her book. Her book. The little, almost diary she held in her head. She recorded in here, ever thought, every emotion, every mere detail that she ever had the chance to encounter. And it was hers. And she cherished it.
But, Saraphina figured, this mare was a lot stronger than her, and if she made even one move that would serve as a threat, she could get plowed over in a hoovebeat. So, she bit her tounge, and held back the glare that wanted to spill from her eyes.
" Yes, ma'am. " She said, her voice small, for, she felt small, alone. She didnt even have the force to stand up for herself, and that just twirked her nerves. " I would, I must say help, if we did venture the forest. There is still much to find out there. " She kept her voice low, tring to make advise, not a demand.

Looking back towards Saraphina, her face was moer kind now. She had just put this mare in a long and painful test of her pride, yet she was willing to let her pride go to be part of her herd. Sighing, Vex's eyes met Saraphina's, "Since your so willing..." Vex's eyes lowered, looking to the blades of grass as they gracefully waved to her in the breeze. Raising her head, she looked to Saraphina from above her muzzle. "I was thinking, and wondering, if you would accept the position of my Beta female."
Her nostrils flared, reconizing what she had just done. Did she really want this? Yes. Was she sure she could trust her? Yes. Was this the right decision? .....definately. Vex looked to Saraphina, her eyes filled with hope, her eyebrows raised with acception. She really wanted Saraphina to be her Beta female, the third highest postion to her, of course, after Alpha male.

Sarapina simply stared at Vex. Hadn't she just said not to give your trust away? Odd. Hypocritical much? But, savoring the title of Beta, Saraphina thought it over, turning her head to the sky to clarify her mind. Well, there were Pros and Cons to this position.
It wasn't alpha, of that she was glad. She could never be alpha anyhow. One, the only alpha spot open was Male, and she was no stallion. And two, she would refuse to accept the Alpha position if it were thrust in her face at this moment. It also, gave her some sense of highness, that she would always be included in the group. And not excluded like some worn rag.
But on the other hand, just like alpha, Beta came with high responsibilities. And it wasn't that Saraphina couldn't handle having that responsibilities, it was just, how could she take them? What would happen if things went the wrong way? Or if the alpha become overwhelmingly sick, and she had to fill in? What then?
Saraphina let out a small sigh, her eyes looking up into thous of Vex. " As you wish. " She bent her head in respect, showing, that she had taken, the ever faithful, title of Beta Female.

Vex's eyes pierced Saraphina as she bowed. Rolling her eyes, she snorted loudly through her nostrils. "Don't be crazy child," She announced boldly, "Just take the honor and lets go." Swinging her head back, she took off into the distance. Dust fluttering into the air as she galloped through the clearing.
Flipping her hair out of her face, Vex flicked her tail quickly. Even when she galloped the maggots that had previously stuck to her still hung on tight. Annoyance nibbled at her good mood, however, she just lightly pushed it away. She was in an extremely good mood, nothing to pull her down.

Saraphina raised her head. She shuffled her hooves on the ground beneth her, she would really have to stop being so proud, it emmbarssed her at times. Then again, maybe it was best to keep it up, at times. So, you know, she wouldn't think that Saraphina had stopped trusting her? Or perhaps she was just over her head in the whole trust issue, and it wasn't really a big deal. But, to her, it was personaly a big deal. She had always been taught as she was growing up to respect her leaders. It had to be a personal thing, some people overly respecting things, and somepeople hating over respect.
Saraphina galloped after Vex, her mass of a mane flipping around in her face, annoyed, she huffed it away. Her hair wasn't made for fast running, it always got in the way, and made her look like some kind of flying banner.
